Is this a good idea for a novel?

Have you listened to David Bowie's glam era concept albums? They deal with similar themes, especially Ziggy Stardust and Diamond Dogs (which in turn was influenced by George Orwell's 1984). Give them a listen, they really give insight to several character's perceptions of an earth altering event.
