How can I convince my family to get another dog?

My stepmom got two Golden Retrievers for the family (which she said she would take care of), but she recently left our family. My dad wants to make her take them as she said she would take care of them, but my brother doesn't. I don't like them. I didn't pick them out, and I didn't want Golden Retrievers. They are also horribly tempered, because my stepmother said she would train them but she never did. My dad says that if we get her to take those, I can have my own small dog. I don't really care if we have them or not, they're not my problem and I don't really think they'll make a difference whether or not I get my own little dog. How can I either convince my dad that it won't make a difference, or get my brother to shut the hell up?
