I don't understand my boyfriends cryptic language?

Last Sept. my boyfriend and I broke up for reasons that I won't explain in detail. He keeps telling me that we are not going to move forward with the relationship again until next Sept. Recently I asked him how he felt when we made love and he said it was like being with any of my friends. So of course, the next question was how many of your other friends do you have with? He retaliated with you know that I am not having with anyone, but you. Then I said so why don't you make me your girlfriend? He said well your what ever you to be to me. He ended up getting really mad at me and now all we do is argue. I told him I don't want to see him until he can tell me whether or not I am his girlfriend. He says he's not taking advantage of me, but his actions betray him. I am not sure that I made the right decision since we haven't been able to work out another solution. My friends think I am being too pushy with him. When the time is right he'll make me his girlfriend. So what's your take on this?
